Grace Husted

Grace Husted was one of the few known instructors of Samuel Morris. She taught from the early 1880s to the late 1890s, primarily focusing on English Literature and Rhetoric, but also occasionally teaching courses on German and Latin. In his biography of Samuel Morris, Jorge O’Masa quotes Husted on teaching Morris: “For his English lessons the Bible was the textbook. Reverently and carefully would he read the chapters assigned. He was so interested in asking questions and in commenting upon the meaning of the text, that the recitation hour was never long enough to satisfy him.”
