The inspiration for this piece came from the history of Taylor. It was built as a small Christian college in the middle of nowhere (also known as the Midwest), but now has come to have much more of an impact. I wanted the focus to be Taylor’s bell tower, a well-known marker of this university. I tried to do this by making the lines of the cornfield to sort of lead you to it while still keeping a kind of movement to the piece.
