Volume 2024 Parnassus | Thresholds

Letter from the Editor

Thresholds mark the beginning of a story. The first word, the first line, the first character, the first moment.

As you cross the threshold of the 2024 issue of Parnassus, may you be awestruck at the power of a blank page transformed into a story–an empty door frame leading to the open ocean. May you cross into the following thresholds like an eager school child given his first chapter book.

There is magic within these pages.

Thresholds simultaneously signify the end of a story. The last line of dialogue, the closing remarks, the farewell. I found myself exploring these doors leading to new themes, experiences and emotions with reverence and bliss.

Thank you to the many artists who have trusted us with your work. We have been honored to enter into your thresholds.

Thank you, Haley Webb, for your brilliant designs and willingness to try something new. We could not have created this journal so beautifully without you.

Thank you to the staff for challenging my opinions, encouraging my leadership and putting forth wonderful work each week. You were my behind-the-scenes heroes.

Thank you, Dr. Housholder, for countless hours discussing each and every last detail. Thank you for expressing your faith in me in moments when I doubted myself capable.

Lastly, thank you, reader, for picking up this copy of Parnassus. Whether you have a friend who has something published, you are an avid supporter of the Taylor English department or you were enticed by the truly spectacular cover, I hope and pray you find yourself lost in the worlds that have been created.

We aim to glorify the Lord in the work that we have done as artists, staff, and designers, reflecting His work as Creator of all. To Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Please enjoy the 2024 issue of Parnassus!
