Abstract

The New Worlds virtual reality system is a project with the goal of allowing a user to walk in a virtual world as they would normally in the real world, simulating the feeling and forces that accompanies it. The project consists of three main teams, one focusing on controls and theory, another on electronics and interfacing between the control algorithms and sensing, and another focusing on the mechanical aspects of sensing and motion. The end product of this is an initial prototype capable of sensing and following a foot in one dimension.
