As part of their study of Medieval British literature and culture, students in Dr. Housholder’s ENG 412: Medieval Literature prepared posters to share their research. Their research topics included significant political, governmental, and cultural events; key figures that shaped the cultural landscape of Medieval Britain; and important architectural projects (namely cathedrals and castles) that established centers of religious and political power, many of which still stand today. The students had considerable freedom to shape their poster presentations, though they were given this important restriction: nothing on their posters could be machine-generated. In keeping with the traditions and technological limitations of Medieval monks and scholars who wrote and decorated their texts by hand, the students were required to hand-draw and hand-write everything on their posters.
