Description

When looking through the archives chronicling Taylor University’s past, I was struck by the community’s persistent comradery and durability of spirit, and the admirable resilience through which the campus has handled various difficulties. To depict these traits, I chose to blend our iconic bell tower with a tree as a nod to Isaiah 61:3, which voices a call for Christians to be “oaks of righteousness.” This call means that we should be a display of the glory of God, but also that we must withstand various trials in life in order to sufficiently grow and get to that point of beauty and splendor. In the foreground, the new generation of Taylor students receives the iconic “one another” towel from the hand of those who came before, as a symbol of the community they are being welcomed into, as well as the legacy of virtue, strength, and hope, to which they are called to contribute.
